What do the results mean?

Your results can be one of the following:

CLEAR: No illicit activity identified. This indicates you have NO Criminal Record.

HIT: SAPS Verification Requested. This outcome suggests that the customer’s fingerprints have been detected on the SAPS criminal database, indicating a POSSIBLE criminal record. In this case, SAPS will further process the check, and a second report, known as a SAPS69 Report will be sent to Huru.

The SAPS69 Report, which typically takes 2 to 6 weeks, will reveal if there is a criminal record and its details. This report will be sent directly to the customer or the requesting party via email.

What is a SAPS 69 report?

The SAPS69 report is an official document issued by the South African Police Service (SAPS) in response to a request for an individual’s criminal record information.

It contains details about any criminal offenses registered against the individual in South Africa, including convictions, pending charges, or other relevant information stored in the SAPS criminal database.

What can my CRC be used for and what can it not be used for?

A HURU CRC can be used for a multitude of reasons.

In most cases a CRC is accepted for the below reasons/purposes:

  • Pre-employment
  • SACE (South African Council for Educators)
  • NCR (National Credit Regulator)
  • Gambling license
  • Liquor license
  • E-hailing companies (Like Uber)

A CRC will NOT be accepted for the below:

  • Public Drivers Permit (PrDP)
  • Firearm application
  • Private Security Industry Regulatory Authority (PSiRA)
